Ombrelle sun lotion SPF 30:

Actives: 10% Octocrylene, 3% Avobenzone, 2% Ensulizole, 2% Mexoryl SX, est. PPD 10ish
Other ingredients: Aqua, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Triethanolamine, Isopropyl Palmitate, Alcohol Denat, Stearyl Alcohol, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Dimethicone, Panthenol, PEG-100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Stearic Acid, Methylparaben, Acrylates/c10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Tocopherol, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, PEG-4 Dilaurate, PEG-4 Laurate, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben, Iodoropynyl Butylcarbamate.
Cons:
UVA protection: 2/5 Octocrylene and Avobenzone easily boost PPD to 8, add in Mexoryl SX to further stabilize Avobenzone, and you have photostable (If you haven’t noticed the word “photostable” plastered all over the package already…) and solid UVA protection that absorbs 90% of UVA, but PPD 10 is insufficient for outdoor wear, decent for indoor wear though.
Texture: 2/5 It is like thick milk, but uncomfortably greasy and sticky when applied. It felt so smothering when properly applied, so I certainly didn’t look forward to applying this every morning. This susncreen is as sticky as glue, my sleeves were stained with sticky Ombrelle residue by the end of the day. Didn’t sting though.
Transparency: 2.5/5 No white cast whatsoever, the sunscreen is hardly noticeable IF you can ignore the ridiculous shine. Initial application was reasonably decent; the shine was reduced considerably after the sunscreen sinks in. But I always dreaded the second application: My face was a complete oil slick by the time the second layer was put on. Not matt, not at all.
Price: 2/5 3.75 dollars per oz. A decent price for a Mexoryl-containing sunscreen, but a bit too much for a 10ish PPD.
Overall: Decent UVA protection, but cosmetically unappealing on face, sticky and as shiny as a lightbulb, at the best tolerable for body application. Frgrance-free. Won’t buy again.
